Future for Forested Landscapes: a New Vision
In 2005, a group of scientists associated with Harvard University's Harvard Forest published a scientific report entitled Wildlands and Woodlands: A Vision for the Forests of Massachusetts. The report called for a bold new land protection effort to stave off accelerating forest fragmentation in Massachusetts. Since its original release, this view has been expanded to include all of New England.

Wildlands and Woodlands: Gaining Ground
Gaining Ground brings Wildlands and Woodlands up to date for 2008. It highlights:
- The Formation of a diverse group of people into the Wildlands and Woodlands Partnership .
- The Aggregation of land protection projects
- The Expansion of regional conservation partnerships that serve as woodland councils
- New conservation finance and policy initiatives
