Woodland Councils and Regional Conservation Partnerships
Definitions
Woodland Council (verb): Function that advances land protection projects and encourages private landowners to conserve and responsibly manage their woodlands.
Regional Conservation Partnership (noun): An often informal collaboration of people and organizations, both public and private who represent diverse environmental, social, and economic interests, but share a vision to advance the conservation of privately-owned forests, farms and natural resources at the regional and landscape-scale.
Woodland Councils and Wildlands and Woodlands
The Wildlands and Woodlands Vision calls for the development of woodland council functions within existing organizations or within new regional conservation partnerships. In most cases, these are not brand new 501(c)(3) organizations, but rather informal partnerships of existing groups and people with the shared goal of helping landowners, both public and private, to be good stewards of their land.
